End of the School Year!!

I can't believe the school year is over already!  It was a wonderful experience to be your gifted support and SCOPE teacher!  I can't wait to come back next year and start in August instead of December!

The 6th Grade Literature Fest is tomorrow!  Don't forget to bring your costume and either a brown bag lunch or money to buy a lunch from the school cafeteria.  Remember to look over your summary journals tonight so you will be ready to answer questions at the competition tomorrow! :) 

Your assignment for this week is to finish the math puzzle we began today in class.  It is due next Wednesday.

E-Mission was a SUCCESS!!!!

Congratulations Team North Strabane!!!!  The 5th and 6th grade gifted support students were able to successfully help NASA launch the INTELSAT VI satellite into its geosynchronous orbit!!!!  It was a great experience for all! :)

5th Grade Literature Fest

Congratulations to my fifth grade students!!  Our team came in fourth place overall in the competition!  We also had five students receive individual awards for their art and writing projects!  Way to go North Strabane!!!! :)

E-Mission Preparation!!

Our E-Mission is on FRIDAY!!!! Please be sure to read through your "Team Instructions" until you know them VERY WELL!! The fate of our e-mission depends on how well you know how to do your job! Please also play around with and get familiar with your online tools! Below are detailed steps on how to access the Life Support and Task Control tools.

-Go to www.e-missions.net
-Scroll down and click on the "teacher site" for Satellite Rescue
-Click on "Teacher's Toolkit"
-Click on "Pre-Mission Preparation" on the left side of the page
-Click on the appropriate tool for your assignment in the E-Mission

*Remember to practice recording every 5 minutes!!*

Snow Day

5th and 6th Grade Gifted Students - Due to the snow day yesterday, we were unfortunately unable to meet.  Your assignment is still to move on to the next reading assignment and write in your summary journal.  We will discuss both reading assignments and I will check summary journals when we meet next week.

Be sure to check my Wiki!  There is a discussion assignment for both 5th and 6th grade students.  The discussion assignments are due Wednesday, January 19th.

New Books!

Both 5th and 6th grade are starting new books this week!  5th graders, you are starting Simon Bloom: The Gravity Keeper.  6th graders, you are starting The Thief Lord.  Both books seem to be good reads so far!  I hope you enjoy them as well.  Don't forget to visit my WikiSpace in order to answer questions about the readings.
